Route Details: On this hike, we walk from the center of Guatape via country road to the outskirts of town, where the trail becomes narrow and takes us up to a beautiful lookout point of the town, the famous Pedra del Peñol, and the whole reservoir. We backtrack and cut down to a river, which we follow up for our second attraction – a pair of small waterfalls hidden in a beutiful tropical nature corridor. We backtrack again for a second time to catch up with the road which takes us back into town.

Distance – 10 km 
Meeting point –  North Bus Terminal, or Parque Principal de Guatape
Estimated Time Walking: approx. 4.5 hours, but varies with pace of group
Transportation to and from start of the hike: Public bus, 2 hours, depending on traffic

Price: 75,000 COP or $22 USD / person – includes hike leader, extreme sport insurance, public transportation, first aid care, sales tax, and information about the area and city.

note* – for those staying in Guatape, we can meet you in the town and knock the transportation cost off the price. 

Difficulty: 3 out of 5: (medium) The hiking route features some steep and potentially slippery trails, many river crossings, and some rope assisted climbing. All participants should have a very good level of physical condition and be without health problems, underlying cardiovascular problems, or severe environmental allergies.

Recommendations / Warnings: Hikers are asked to bring plenty of water (2 L), snacks for energy, sun protection, and secure shoes with good grip that you don’t mind walking through water in.
Please be aware that all hikers will be participating at their own risk and may be asked to sign a waiver!
